WARCEF is a study for people who have poor heart function (heart failure). Having poor heart function increases the risk that a person may have a stroke. The purpose of this research study is to determine which of two commonly used treatments, warfarin (Coumadin), or aspirin is better for preventing death and stroke in patients with poor heart function. Warfarin inhibits the clotting of blood while aspirin inhibits the clumping of platelets in the blood that form clots.
will have: (1) Cardiac ejection fraction of 30% or less;
(2) Stroke within the past 3 months
