ACCORD-Mind: Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes – Memory in Diabetes

It is known that some people with diabetes exhibit difficulty with thinking and memory. The goal of ACCORD-MIND is to investigate the relationship between diabetes, treatment intensity, and thinking and memory in older patients. We also hope to find out why some persons with type 2 diabetes develop difficulties in managing their diabetes treatment regimen. Your participation in ACCORD-Mind will help doctors better understand and prevent declines in thinking and memory associated with diabetes.

Eligible Participants are men and women aged 55 or older with diabetes who are already participating in the ACCORD Study.

Participation Includes (1) 30 minutes of memory testing every 2 years; (2) Brain MRI, if you volunteer for this aspect of the study; (3) A chance for you to join in a research effort which could help people like you who are at greater risk for declines in thinking and memory and daily function.
